MOROCCOThe Irish company Ingersoll Rand’s Engineering Project Solutions has been selected by Abengoa to supply a compressed air system for the Chtouka desalination plant. The plant is currently under construction by the Abengoa subsidiary Aman El Baraka. Ingersoll was chosen for its CompAir technology, which will also power the station’s pneumatic equipment, valves and electrical controls.

The desalination plant will launch operations in March 2021 and will supply 150,000 m3/d water to the drinking water grid of Greater Agadir and will supply 120,000 m3/d water for the irrigation of 15,000 hectares of plantations in the Chtouka Baha Valley. The project is estimated to cost 345 million euros ($411.6 million). (Afrik21).

Last week the Chtouka desalination plant received a visit from the Moroccan Minster of Agriculture, Sea Fishing, Rural Development and Water and Forests Aziz Akhannouch. During the visit the project’s progress was verified as 85% of the construction of the desalination plant and 56% of the irrigation network has been completed. (MarketScreener)
